Thrice-crowned Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic endures a 'heartbreaking' knee injury.
Triple NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee as the Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 against the Heat.
The Serbian center was hurt towards the end of the second quarter in an inadvertent contact with team-mate Spencer Jones.
The other player landed on the foot of the big man, who immediately collapsed to the ground clutching his leg.
The veteran player, that leads the NBA this season in rebounds and assists, posted a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the contest before suffering the injury.
The player will undergo an scan on Tuesday to assess the seriousness of the injury.
"Immediately, Jokic understood there was a problem," stated Denver head coach Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Whoever that suffers an injury, that's difficult, most notably a player as special as Jokic. More information will come on Tuesday."
"We will continue as a team. Obviously, right now, I am more worried primarily about him personally and the disappointment of facing a situation like that."
