During the recent fiscal announcement, the correct decisions were taken for Britain, reducing energy expenses with savings of £150 on utilities, protecting the NHS and tackling the scourge of child poverty by scrapping the two-child restriction. Measures were also taken that the income generated through taxes was done fairly, with each person chipping in but those with the largest means bearing an appropriate burden.

Because of the policies implemented, the budget established a firmer financial footing, reducing price increases and government bond yields. This is essential for securing our public services, when a tenth of all expenditures by government goes on borrowing costs.

Advancing Financial Initiatives

The budget builds on the action we have already taken to improve the economy: directing £120bn toward new investments in such things as highways, railways and utilities; introducing significant overhaul measures in a generation to favor construction, not impediments; advocating for the growth of Heathrow and Gatwick; and concluding commercial agreements with the EU, India and the US.

In combination, these have allowed us to exceed our growth forecasts.

Renewing Our Nation

As I set out at the party conference, the government’s purpose is nothing less than the renewal of our financial system, our localities and our government. By doing that, we will stop degradation and restore faith in our country.

We will confront those on the both sides who only offer complaints and whose approach would lead to continued weakening. I want to emphasize, turning on the borrowing taps or reimposing spending cuts – that is the approach of deterioration and I refuse to countenance it.

A Comprehensive Growth Mission

In a speech on Monday, I will place the budget in context within the broader economic renewal on which the government will be assessed following completion of this parliament.

To accomplish the national renewal we seek, we must do more to stimulate expansion, to address idleness among young people and to pursue closer international cooperation with our trading partners.

Bureaucracy Reduction Effort

Our development strategy will include a refreshed emphasis on sweeping away unnecessary regulation. Often it has been those on the left who have favored regulation, but there is nothing advanced in regulations which only function to boost the cost of living for the poorest, to slow down economic growth unnecessarily, or stop a progressive administration achieving its aims.

Hence the rationale I am asking the business secretary to tackle the type of unnecessary embellishment and superfluous bureaucracy that increase expenses and impede our industrial strategy.

Benefits System Overhaul

Financial revitalization likewise requires that we must continue to modernize the benefits system. We inherited a failing system that left children too poor to eat and which wrote off young people as too sick to work.

We cannot tolerate either part of that ineffective right-wing framework. That is why we will do more to support adolescents in reaching their abilities.

For when people are neglected in your early career, if you are refused the help you need to manage emotional difficulties, or if you are merely dismissed because you are having neurological differences or impairments, then it can confine you to a pattern of joblessness and neediness for decades.

This costs the country money, is detrimental to our output, but much more importantly, it takes away opportunity and disregards ability. Any reformist leadership worthy of the name cannot ignore that.

This is the reason we have appointed an ex-health minister to make implementable proposals to help young people with health conditions access work, training or education – ensuring they are supported to thrive and not sidelined.

Global Commerce Improvement

Ultimately, we must take further action to help our businesses conduct global commerce. No plausible financial outlook for Britain that does not position us as an open, trading economy.

We must confront the reality that the mishandled separation arrangement substantially damaged our finances. It isn't necessary to have a PhD in economics to know that erecting unnecessary trade barriers with your biggest trading partner will impede expansion and increase expenses.

So one element of our economic renewal will be continuing to move towards a stronger commercial partnership with the EU. When we can access more affordable sustenance, boost growth and create jobs by having a stronger connection with Europe, we should.

A Meaningful Approach for Major Issues

A financial plan founded on equitable decisions for Britain must be backed up with a determination to achieve the financial revitalization that the country needs.

Via executing a major, confident protracted program, not a set of short-term remedies, we will rejuvenate the country. We should evolve anew a serious people, with a serious government, capable together of doing difficult things to retake charge of our prospects.

By having a clear mission to revitalize our commerce, our neighborhoods and our government, we will execute the modification we committed to – and then be evaluated based on it during the upcoming vote.
