The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown Versus the Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Houston Astros securing the championship in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their first championship series after 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in the majors to a four games to three win in the seven-game series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the anticipated championship.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an amazing experience."
George Springer has now slugged twenty-three playoff homers, making him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that spot except for Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the early in the series, continue to be the sole team never to appear in a championship series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's painful" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their work this season.
"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he remarked.
The Blue Jays claimed the title on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
