Fans Demand Arrest of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the actress are urging that a person who breached a barricade and touched the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A viral footage reveals the Australian man shoving aside photographers and rushing toward Grande while the actors walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being taken in", though court documents showed that he was due to appear on the following morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram account includes videos of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney performance in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last winter.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user questioned.
Followers Express Concern Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Many supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed dealing with PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said a further response on Instagram.
A number of supporters also questioned event staff at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while others called for digital services to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In videos shared widely, Grande appeared startled when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Many of fans had congregated in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it started.
The movie, to be released on November 21, is the second of a dual adaptation of the well-known Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which centers on the unexpected relationship between two distinct characters.
The show itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning film of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten Academy Award nods, earning a pair for best costume and set decoration.
